It’s Time for Your Post-Holiday Reset

Alexander Saladrigas for Vogue Russia September 2019

The holiday season is a time of joy, indulgence, and creating lasting memories with loved ones. As we bid farewell to the festivities and head into the new year, it’s important to prioritize our well-being and reestablish healthy habits. At Risette, we believe that post-holiday wellness is all about finding balance and nurturing our bodies and minds. We’re sharing some rejuvenating tips to help you feel your best and thrive in the new year.

Detoxify with Nourishing Elixirs

After indulging in rich holiday meals and festive drinks, it’s time to reset your system and restore vitality. Start your mornings with a nutrient-packed elixir that will detoxify and energize. Try a refreshing blend of lemon, ginger, and turmeric to kickstart your digestion and boost your immune system. Alternately, try a green juice loaded with leafy greens, cucumber, and a hint of mint, to replenish vital nutrients and provide a natural glow. If you don’t have a juicer, we regularly use these nut milk bags with our blender for the perfect consistency everytime.

Take Time For Yourself

If your holiday was filled with lots of time spent with friends and family, whether it was sharing a house with your entire extended family or attending events every night, it’s important to carve out some time for yourself to rest and unwind. Post-holiday wellness is all about finding moments of tranquility amidst the busyness of daily life. Take time for yourself to dedicate to self-care rituals that promote relaxation. Treat yourself to a luxurious bath infused with gentle essential oils like lavender or rosemary, creating a peaceful ambiance and soothing your tired muscles. Enhance your skincare routine with nourishing masks that replenish lost moisture and restore a vibrant complexion. Remember, self-care is an essential part of your overall well-being.

Reboot Your Fitness Routine

The start of the year is the perfect time to recommit to your fitness goals and redefine your workout routine. Explore new activities that inspire you and help build strength and stamina. Pilates, yoga, or a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) class can invigorate your body and stimulate your mind. Aim for at least 30 minutes of exercise daily and incorporate movement into your routine, such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator or going for a brisk walk when your mind feels cloudy.

Mindful Eating for Nourishment

After indulging in holiday feasts, it’s essential to shift our focus towards mindful eating and nourishing our bodies with wholesome, nutrient-dense foods. Embrace a mostly plant-based diet filled with vibrant, seasonal produce and incorporate whole grains and lean proteins. Experiment with new recipes. We love the annual new year detox from goop, that launches at the beginning of each year, as a simple way to inspire and motivate us when we’re feeling depleted from the holidays.

Mediation is Key

The post-holiday period can often leave us feeling overwhelmed and mentally exhausted. Incorporate mindfulness and meditation into your daily routine to find clarity and promote inner peace. Dedicate a few minutes each day to sit in stillness and focus on your breath. Explore guided meditation apps or classes that assist you in deepening your practice. With regular practice, you’ll discover enhanced mental clarity, reduced stress levels, and a greater sense of overall well-being.
